Great Design by Frazier and Associates.  The same owners who are building the 1920s style bungalow built this.  These owners have been absolutely fantastic to work with.  The cottage was tough to build because it's levered into this hillside right beside the creek - not 50 feet from the creek.  Because the architects wanted to preserve as many trees as possible, there was virtually no room to maneuver.
 
This project is jammed with authentic details - from the stone-faced foundation, to the mixture of clapboard and shake siding materials, to the tern metal roof.  The porch overlooks an incredible ledge-filled creek.  The interior is a mixture of old ideas and new touches.  Frazier and Associates was determined not to "over finish" the interior.  This is one cozy cottage.  At 800 square feet - it's perfect for weekend getaways and a guest cottage.  It's well removed from the main house to give guests plenty of privacy. 

This project re-enforced that size matters.  A small project is not as efficient as a large one.  Per square foot - it costs more to build small than it does to build in the 3,000 to 4,000 square foot range.  However, if money is the most important thing, chances are someone wouldn't build something like this.
