Our current commercial project in Waynesboro is part of a re-development of several commercial properties. These projects are a good example of Environmental Responsibility inasmuch as this is "Adaptive Re-use" at its best. These structures had fallen into severe disrepair and were considered by some for demolition. Adaptive Re-use is a form of re-cycling. Also, by maintaining the structures, the community at large wins by keeping the architectural character yet responding to changing needs within the community.

The list of problems with this structure is long: no drainage/water proofing for basement foundation, poor wiring, plumbing issues, no insulation, failed windows and doors, etc. The foundation, beyond the obvious, was actually breaking down and eventually would have given way. We excavated the foundation and waterproofed and installed an effective drainage system.

We've done a complete gut of the interior. Replaced all systems. We installed the highest efficiency HVAC system available, instant hot-water heaters, over-the-top insulation package, all new high-quality windows and doors. The list goes on. This renovation is a good example of the idea that quality is as much a part of being environmentally responsible as high R values and high SEER ratings. This property will not require constant maintenance and repair - which helps the environment. Remember: "The Stingy Person Pays the Most." It's so true.
